Question about knife: Why does this knife look so rustic in comparison

these are the same knife but different , they're found all over the web some websites label it an athame and others label it a dagger (same pics respectively on every site) , But they're essentially the same knife, so what's the difference and why does one look so dirty/rustic and the other so new and shiny?

An Athame is a ceremonial and practical tool used in some pagan religions, as well as Witchcraft. The Athame differs from the 'dagger' in that the Athame is purpose built from virgin steel and used for no other purpose than ceremony or the gathering of herbs. In other words, the steel can not have been used for any other purpose.
