Hello, just had a question regarding the quality of the black coating on the la griffe. In the past week, I've recieved two examples that were NIB but with a bit of the coating near the edge worn/peeling off. These were from two separate reputable online dealers. Is this normal for Emerson? I've never owned an Emerson, so I'm wondering if this level of fit and finish is normal.

All the La Griffes i have were fine out the box, it wasnt untill i used them the coating started to wear off at the usual "hot spots".

Can you post some pics ?

It might be that you were unlucky or maybe they are used ? Its hard to tell whats what with out some pics.

mine has a small "chip" from the coating, near the tip.

i suspect the crinkle type coating isnt as durable as the black ti coating on the folders.

I much prefer the regular coating to the crincle coated La Griffes.

So there are different versions? I don't like this thick coating at all, and it doesn't help that two out of two were chipped out of the box. So will Emerson release different versions in the future?

oh sure. rub it in why dont ya???

Sorry Morim. What can i say :p

The earlier ones had a smooth finish similar to the folders but not quite the same. The lates ones have the crincle finish.

I only have the smooth ones, it seems the crincle finish is not as durable ?

I dont see EKI changing the coating again any time soon. I have no idea why they changed it in the first place ?. It was probably to save all this money they need

If you find a smooth one id buy it before i do :)
