Question about LB7 Limited Edition Series?

OK, I'll try this again.

I have recently acquired a couple Limited Edition LB7s commemorating the Army and the Navy. One side of the handle has "IF YOU LOVE YOUR FREEDOM, THANK A VET" engraved, the other side had "U.S. NAVY" or "U.S. ARMY" engraved. The blade is etched with "Limited Edition" and has the service seal etched on it also. Can I assume these were part of a set to commemorate all the services? Being a retired Marine, I'd love to find a Marine Corps LB7. For that matter, I'd love to complete the set and find the Air Force, and presumably Coast Guard too.

Any information anybody can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Dave

A little more info.
The set shown is the WWII 50th commerative set.
Was produced in 1991 and there were the 6 LB7's + the Bowie in the set.
They made 500 sets + and additional 1000 Bowies which were sold seperatly.
A walnut presentation box and a leather binder with a pair of white military dress gloves were included in the package.
MSRP was $2500.00

The extra 1000 Bowies where sold in a smaller walnut presentation box with the gloves.
At 900.00 MSRP.
Some more info on the set

Irv,
Thanks for the info. I would love to have that complete set. But my knives don't look at all like that. The have the plain brown handles with the words I quoted above engraved, and the regular clip point blade with some dark etching along the lines of what you see on the LB7 scrimshaws. I haven't been able to find anything at all about them.

Dave,
Oh you mean the other Army knife.. :o
A picture saves a 1000 words but in this case Its still fun to get the info out.

Four knives with matching commemorative tokens. Limited to 800 sets.

There was also a Vietnam Memorial edition which, while not a part of this set, fits right in as far as I am concerned.

Codger,
Those are the ones I'm talking about! Thanks for the info. No coins came with the knives I got. Only 800 sets, huh? Then I don't hold out much hope for finding the other two, or the Vietnam Memorial one either, but will keep looking.

Thanks again!

Dave

A lot of limited edition sets get broken up for one reason or another. These knives could show up in singles at any time, any place. Also, it was ISC practice to over-run production by 10-20% to allow for damaged goods, rejects, and warranty replacement. 10% of 800 pieces is still 80 pieces not in sets originally.

Also, along these lines, keep your eyes peeled for the Schrade AMVETS series. Most were "Sons Of Amvets" with "Lest We Forget" etch or "Sons Of AMVETS" etch and "SOAV" coined shield.
5OTSAV 1994 1,000 - 1,500 pcs.
8OTSAV 1994 1,000 - 2,000 pcs.
513AMV 1995 1,000 - 2,000 pcs.
513AMVSH 1995 1,000 - 2,000 pcs. (silver helmet logo shield)

I would also like to find that AMVETS knife. I've been a life member of AMVETS for about 25 years now, although it's been a long time since I've been in one.
