Hi;

I have been thinking of picking up a LM Wave for work...but one tool that I sometimes need is a nut driver. Will the "bit attachement" feature on the LM Wave work with nut drivers? are there nut driver bits available?

Thanks

I use a tool adaptor on my waves , surges and charges . I use plain old 1/4 hex bits , that interoperate with my Snap On 1/4 hex drivers . The Tool adaptor is nice as it enables angled , an 90% driving . I will get a bit drive extender at some point . I use the propritory Leatherman bits as back ups ( they stow in a pocket in the back of the pouch .

The build quality of the old skool tool adaptors is stellar , I havent inspected any recent ones . It also makes an OK palm driver for hard to reach spots .

Thanks for the responses.....so it sounds like if I just get the extender then I can use standard sockets when I want to use the Wave as a nut driver?

You could use the extender or tool adapter with a nuttseter set.

Or you could use a 1/4" socket adapter (in addition to the extender or tool adapter) so that you can use regular sockets.

It may be a bit fiddly with the addition of multiple adapters. I haven't tried it since I'm a little bit weary of applying a lot of torque to the large bit driver on the Charge. I don't remember who posted it (Spoonrobot maybe???) but someone posted a photo of a "fragged" Leatherman Charge large bit driver. The Tool Adapter Accessory will probably be more capable of withstanding a lot of torque.

I like the Charge and I won't try to dissuade you from buying one but the SOG PowerLock has a 1/4" drive adapter on it--you could use that directly with a socket set.
