"A pressure release locking system used on the Spyderco MeerKat, model C64. The lock is released by positioning your thumb on the butt end of the handle over the Spyderco bug and two fingers on the back side of the handle then scissoring the two sides in opposite directions."

does this mean I squeeze the handle together, or push one side towards the blade and the other away from the blade? I am sure this is very accurate in description, but I am not connecting to it...

I ordered one, but it will be several days to a week before I get it.....patience may be a virtue....blah blah blah

Hold the right side of the knife with your fingers on the scale and away from the blade channel. With your right thumb on the Spyder, push forward with your thumb until the left scale slides forward. That unlocks the Meerkat. Don't practice near loved ones. I flung the knife out of my hand before I learned how to unlock it. Never fun.

Think lockback with the lockbar pinned to one of the scales. Slide one scale away from the other, and it will raise the lockbar from the notch, hence closing the blade.

can't wait to get it - something new to do in front of the tv - maybe defferent enough to fool the wife and keep it out of her vegetable tray...:p

Thanks guys - now all I have to do is enjoy the anticipation!!
