Question about most recent thread

Howdy,
I just have a question over something I'm not really understanding. I have been using forums for years now on various sites, so I'm pretty good at navigating most of em.

When I am in a sub-forum such as the Exchange, I can see the various small forums that make up that section. Folders, Fixed, Supplies, etc. Now, over on the right hand side it shows what the most recent topic is that has been updated. However, whenever I enter a forum, lets say the Fixed Blade section, I sometimes don't even see the topic that was just listed as the most recent/up to date on the previous page.

Why is this?

Better than I could explain it.

Notes on the current rules from my Bladeforums blog:

Bumping your Exchange forum thread:

it ain't gonna happen! The current forum settings in the Exchange present all threads in chronological order of the original post. No further posts in these threads move them any higher. You are allowed to repost after 14 days.

11/15 Update: Based on feedback, we're trying a new format for the Exchange forums - we're sorting threads by Thread Started time instead of Last Post time. What does this mean? Threads are no longer going to be affected by bumping or replies - threads will still show up in the order that they were created.

If you prefer to sort threads by the time that the last post was made, you can, just select the option at the bottom of each forum screen.

Update on reposting:

SECTION 3 - Rules for Sellers / Traders / Service Providers (hereafter referred to as "Sellers"):
1.Rules for everyone:
[ ... ]
16. REPOSTING / RELISTING: You must wait two (2) weeks (14 days) to relist items for sale after the first time they have been listed. Don't try to circumvent this, your sale will be deleted, and your account will be locked.

However, whenever I enter a forum, lets say the Fixed Blade section, I sometimes don't even see the topic that was just listed as the most recent/up to date on the previous page.

This used to confuse me as well!

Rycen just explained "why."

For how to work around it, once in the (sub)forum in question-- in the example below, the For Sale: Traditionals (etc.) Subforum-- and click "Last Post By" twice:

In other words, click the "Last Post By" link/button, wait for the thread list to reload, then click "Last Post By" again.

This will leave you with the posts in descending order from most recent/up-to-date.

Hope this helps!

~ P.
