I bought an Endura today and i remarked that the blade is in AUS 8. But on the spyderco site it is notice that the blade is in ATS 55.
Why is that? Do i have an older or newer version of the kinfe?

If I had to guess... probably older, does your knife have the boye dent on it's lock? If it doesn't then it sure aint newer.

Mandragore,
Some prefer the older Endura. Alot say it is the better version. Does it have a metal clip or plastic??

Mandragore,

Some people like the plastic clip over the metal ones as it is
less likely to scratch stuff.
As for the AUS-8 steel, there is nothing bad that I can say about
it. My first Delica had this steel and it has performed well for
me over the past several years.

The plastic clip. That's was my first Spyderco. Endura, plastic clip. :) You have an excellent knife Mandragore.

I just wanted to follow what the others said. I have two plain edge plastic clip Enduras and a plastic clip Delica. I asked my wife for a serrated plastic clip Endura for christmas. Since they are no longer made by Spyderco, she had to go on E-Bay where she found one with a red checkered handle. I find the metal clips scratch my car and other things. Also the metal clip gets scratched after a while and I do not like touching it up all the time. I find AUS-8 to be a fine steel which takes a good edge. Don't feel like you got less of a knife by getting an older model. I feel you you got the better version.

Based upon ownership of my first Endura (G-2, bought in '93), and purchase of another plastic clip Endura (also G-2) and a Delica (AUS-8), compared with my newer Delicas (metal clipped, ATS-55) and a Goddard L.W. (ATS-55):

The plastic clipped versions seem to be more robust and solid feeling upon opening, due to the thicker FRN on one side. The Goddard and the newer Delicas don't have this feeling.

AUS-8 and G-2 do well in pool environments, whilst ATS-55 rusts too easily in the water (I do rinse them off well in tap water after swimming, though).

I just think the older versions FEEL better in the hand, at least for right hand use. Obviously, for left hand use, the switchable metal clips are better.

I prize my older Enduras and Delica. They are also as tight as can be (even my original, which has been abused through the years!) in both verticle and lateral play. Practically none at all.
