Question about my Esee 4

So I just got my Esee 4 in the mail and had a quick question, so I know the Serial number is on the very end of the handle but when I removed the Micarta scales there was another number under the scales that does not match the serial number, What is that number ? I am guessing that is the date the knife was made but I am not 100% on that, the number under the scales is a 6 digit number and the serial number is a 5 digit number.

Manufacturing date iirc, can't find link to confirm this though.

That is what I am thinking, I just want to make sure that I didn't one of the counterfeit esee's floating around, I am pretty sure it's not a counterfeit because I ordered it from knifeworks.com which I know is esee's number 1 online retailer.
