I just got a new CQC-7B and I love it. I had a question about the liner lock. It doesn't look like it is engaging the blade that much. It seems like the liner lock is barley against the blade. It feels sturdy but I wanted to check with someone who has more experience with Emerson knives than I do. ANy feedback is greatly appreciated!!

Wave it a few times and play around with it. It should break in with a couple of hundred openings.

All my Emerson were like that brand new. After a few hard openings they "slid"(don't think from wear of liner, someone told me it was the seating of the stop pin, makes sense) a bit to closer to center and pretty much stayed there. All of mine had and still do have solid lockup.

yeah i think thats a little more to the one side than usual but not much, should be ok as it wears in.

i would lock it open and LIGHTLY tap the back of the blade against a carpeted floor and make sure its locking ok just to be sure,

I wrote an e-mail to Emerson about my concern with this knife and here is what they responded with:

Dear Sir,
Yes, you were right to contact us with your question. From the pictures that you sent, the lock is engaging. The lock will wear its way over, over time. As long as the lock is not failing to hold, the knife looks perfect. Let me know if you have any further questions. Thank you.

Everything seems fine. I really love this knife.....now I want another one!!

Mine started out like that as well... but they moved in slightly after a week or two, and there they stayed... Mr. Emerson knows linerlocks...

My CQC-10 was exactly like that. It seemed like the liner was not making it all the way onto the tang, perhaps even moreso than yours. Opening it somewhat hard repeatedly (or waving) will bring it fully onto the tang. Mine seats very nicely fully on the left of the tang on a soft open and right in the middle on a hard open now. Just play with it. It might not even take a week.
