Question about my Strider

I have a question and I do not want this to turn into all the Strider good/bad stuff. My SMF has been back to the spa once and when I got it back I thought they ground down the G-10 where the stop pin hits the frame. (One side being G-10 the other Titanium) Is this common practice ? Now the knife opens fine ( the original problem) but it will tick back and forth when I push and pull the blade. It seems like the stop pin doesn't meet the G-10 when open.

Aside from sending it back ( Just don't feel like it again!) is there any thing I can do? The frame lock is not sticky so the pencil lead trick is unnecessary.
Thanks
TC

The stop pin doesn't hit the G10 side.

It's doesn't hit the G10 side on any of my SMF's.

Why doesn't the thumbstud/bladestop touch the G10 on the SMF and SnG?

Per Mick Strider:

"It doesn't matter and is designed not to matter.

We would RATHER that it "Just misses" the G10.
We do this because it wears a lot quicker than the ti. If your lock is set to touch the g10....then it wears....your lock is less secure. If it always hits the ti, it rock solid.

On a lot of knives, you my find a small spot where we took off a little g10. This was done to insure bump stop to ti integrity."

Thanks for the reply! Should it move on that side at all. If I pull/push on the blade it makes a ticking sound. Is that normal?

I would call them and ask them about it, it might be a little loose. :)

Mine don't make any sound at all.

I can either live with the tick or tighten it up so that it takes two hands to open. Well maybe it needs to get broken in again. It like re-virginizing:).
Thanks for the help

It's not supposed to contact the G-10 side, but one of my SmF's it does.
I like it better that way, to tell the truth.:)

Yeah...I'm with you. I like things to be the same on both sides as much as possible. I understand the "wearing away faster on the G-10 side" but I feel like this problem is due to the imbalance of the stop pin. If only one side is making contact as it opens won't that cause the blade to twist a bit?
TC

The pins did not touch the g10 on my SnG. They only came in contact with the titanium. The Strider boys do that intentionally.

I had no back to back rocking of the blade.

Thats why they add a stainless steel liner along with the g10 scale on the ZT 0300 series - so the pins have something sturdy to rest on both sides.

G10 is durable, but I do not think it would hold up to constant pressure put on it by the blade pins.

Wife's got the camera. Punisher...when the Strider clicks does the sound come from the stop pin or the frame lock moving? Do you feel like the ones that click are secure?
TC

the click is the blade moving on the pivot, the tollerance is suffeciently large enough to allow some movement around the pivot making a slight tick noise if the blade is pushed/pulled, its very noticeable when the blade is partially open. That's seems to be normal for a strider and doesn't seem to affect their function or reliablility one bit.

+1, All my Striders have done that.
