Question about new Buck 102

Hello. I recently aquired a brand new Buck 102 that was made in 2015. My question is regarding the black phenolic handle. My other buck knives have a smooth handle. This phenolic has a little roughness to it. Is this something new?

Buck could have slightly changed the finish. But most likely it was just the luck of the draw. DM

Could you post a picture for us? That might help. I have actually gotten some Bucks with phenolic handles that had some sort of rough clear coating on them I had to remove. Once I did, the normal smooth material was revealed. I have never been certain what that stuff was.

Mine all have that finish mentioned. I don't mind it.
