Question about obsessive flipping, new owner.

Hi all. I was lucky enough to get a new XM 18 warncliffe this week. I'm new to RHKs and the flipper world too. I noticed while flipping the blade today that I'm squeezing, ever so slightly, on the lock bar. I tried several different hand holds and figured out if I use my wrist I don't need fingers on the lock bar. However, when I just use the flipper I have pressure from my middle and ring finger on the lock bar. Also, I did swap the clip to tip up.

I know the S35VN is @ 61 for hardness. At what point would I be damaging the blade - detent ball interface, or is it a nonissue? I was reading the warantee and service parameters and adjusting detent was specifically listed as a not serviced. I read it to mean if I thought it was too tight or too loose, but it raised the question for me.

I did some searching and did find this specific question answered, so if it has already been discussed please link me to the thread.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Best,

Hinderers are made to be Used.
Flip away. Cut/Carry/Flip....Enjoy

Thanks for that. The other High End company I have experience with is CRK and flipping is a big no no and could void your warantee. I didn't think it would void the warantee on the XM-18. I guess I was just looking for some confirmation like, I've had my flipper 5 - 10 years and no noticable change......

Thanks,

The detent is as it is meant to be. Modifying the knife voids the warranty. Using it, flipping it excessively, etc. does not!

Could you show in a video how you flip a CRK? That I'd like to see.

BTW rnbtexas excessive flipping can cause blindness, hearing and hair loss ! No really.

Enjoy my friend and welcome !

I did the same. Crks, Emerson's, Striders all gone now. I'm down to nothing but hinderers. Happy as can be about the decision too! Now my problem is figuring out which one to carry each morning. :)

That's a darn good problem to have!! Haha!

Haha. I can't complain. It took me a long time to get to that point. Some of my crks were hard to part with but ultimately they weren't getting any pocket time. My hinderers are pretty territorial about my pocket. They don't like sharing.

I also understand trying to part with some knives, CRK is a great knife but no pocket time after my first XM moved in. As far as fixed blades got lots of Randall's I would not part with until I saw your Fieldtac!

They are great knives! I just received mine about 3 weeks ago. I recommend selling knives, ammo, guns, or gear that you're not using anymore

Exactly what I've decide to do. I have guns and watches that I don't need or want. They need to find new homes to a hinderer or two can be mine.

The first step in over coming your flipping addiction is admitting you have a problem. The second step is sending me that Wharnie.:very_drunk:
