So I've read a few threads here and I've read the actual law but I am still kinda of confused, if I carry concealed (in my pocket) my Tacforce spring assisted (not automatic) stiletto for utility uses is that legal? What do you guys think? Thanks for your help!

The problem with Ohio's laws are the simple fact that they are so gosh darn vague. Summing it up, it's illegal to carry a "deadly weapon" concealed on your person. What counts as a deadly weapon?

“Deadly weapon” means any instrument, device, or thing capable of inflicting death, and designed or specially adapted for use as a weapon, or possessed, carried, or used as a weapon.

It would seem that it's all about how a cop might perceive the knife itself and his or her interpretation of why you have it. The Tacforce Stiletto is arguably rather weapon-like due to it's design which resembles a Sicilian folding stiletto of the 1950s. The spring-assist is not specifically banned, but does little to help the perception of the knife. I think it would be in your best interested to leave it at home or carry in full view. A mere pocket clip showing is not necessarily considered open carry, depending on the cop.

I live in Ohio myself and as I normally carry 2-4 different knives on me at a time, I asked this same question to a local police officer here in my hometown. According to him it is real easy, Switchblade, ballistic, balisong all no. ANY other knife at this time and the legality of the use or carry of it is TOTALLY up to the discretion of the officer.
