Question about older Spyderco

First off let me say that I am not trying to be negative here, if it is coming off like that then I appologize in advance as that is not my intent.

I only have 1 Spyderco knife and it was given to me as a Christmas present in the early to mid 1990's. I carried the knife for awhile and I really tried to like it, but the knife just did not appeal to me.
As the pictures below show it had seen some use as well as some sharpening.
This particular knife turned me off Spyderco's and I have had no desire to buy one since.
Last November I bought a Byrd Crossbill as I was looking for a hawkbill at the time just to see how useable the blade design was. I last carried a hawkbill as a kid when an electrician uncle gave me an old electrician's folder.
I was impressed with the value for dollar that the Crossbill gave me, I just wish now I didn't buy the stainless handle, but at the time I was going for cheap.
A couple of months ago we were at one of my wife's cousins wedding and I started talking to one of her cousins and he mentioned he was looking for a job. The company I work for was hiring so I got him a job.
It turns out that both he and I are into knives and Spyderco is his favorite make of folder (he's got over a dozen Spydercos).
When I mentioned my Spyderco and how I didn't like it, he offered to lend me an Endura 4 to use as an EDC for a few weeks.
I have carried it now for about 3 weeks as my EDC and I do like it, in fact I am thinking of buying another Spyderco just to give them another go.

I will post the question below the pictures I am attaching so you will see what I mean right away.

This is the knife I now own, I am thinking of cutting the clip off of the handle so that the knife can be more useful for me.
The question is; Is this knife collectable given the model it is and the fact that I have sharpened it.
If it is collectable then I won't cut the clip off.

Your thoughts are appreciated

That would be a Snap-it. It's definitely an old model.
Whatever you do dont cut off that clip. If you dont like it trade it for another knife in the trading forums on this site.

It's an older model, but not one with high collector demand and the few collectors who might want one would have less interest in a used one than one in pristine condition. So, if you feel it will be more useful to you without the clip, I'd say cut it off.

Spyderco has made a WIDE variety of designs. Not all appeal (or are of use) to everyone.

The great thing about Spyderco is that you can almost certainly find a model in their lineup that has all the features that appeal to you personally (unfortunately, I seem to be able to find too many).

The Snap-it was a specialized design that works best for a certain purpose. The Endura (or it's little brother the Delica) are, on the other hand, great general purpose knives. Try out the Endura - if its a bit big for you then the Delica may be a better fit. I'm sure you'll see what great knives Spyderco makes.

What are some of the larger folders that Spyderco sells or are common on the for sale threads?
I've got a bunch of smaller folders right now and I would like to try something larger, mostly for hiking and camping

Also the knife I have has G-2 steel, how good is this steel, I've thought the steel was one of the positive aspects of the knife

G-2, also known as GIN-1, actual name Gingami-1 is pretty good steel. It holds an edge well, sharpens fairly easily and has good toughness. The more I use my older Spydies, the better I like it. It doesn't have the edge holding ability of the high-vanadium steels, but it is a lot easer to get a good edge on. It is the steel that Spyderco built their reputation with.

Larger folders in current production include the Endura, Police, Police 3, Barong, and Military, and probably a few others I'm forgetting.
