The color will be a good indicator, if the handle is black you have D2, if it is tan in color you have the 1095

the d2 version only came in black? thank you very much for your help ...

Yes, and it is linen micarta as opposed to the canvas micarta on the 1095 models. Great knife by the way. It would be perfect if they had put in a usable finger choil though.

they have the green handled d2 model on knifeworks ... and is there an easy wat to distinguish between linen and canvas micarta

The TAK saves the guy's life and gets lost. He posts:

"I'll have to order another TAK when I get some money around. Thanks Mike and Jeff for building a knife I feel confident enough in to carry on outings, otherwise I probably wouldn't have carried any knife exept a folder in my pants pocket inside my coveralls, not sure I could have gotten to that in time."

Look at this reply from Jeff Randall:

"No, we owe the man a new TAK. Drop Mike an email mike@ontariorat.com and you'll get a new knife.

Dude, I'm just glad you're ok. I don't care what kind of knife you were carrying as long as it was able to get you out of a bad situation.

Stay safe,

Jeff"

There aren't many companies that have a warranty that covers loss of their product due to a life-threatening experience!! Jeff & Mike, you sure know how to make me feel really happy about having purchased my first RAT !!

The TAK is a great knife. Sounds like you have the 1095 version. I have had that version for about 4 years and it is still going strong. It is one tough knife.
