Hi everyone,
I havent been on this site before today..I also created a paypal account today. I really dk much about it. I saw that in some of your knife sales it says paypal accepted, but not fees or shipping..if somebody can give me a quick rundown on how the payment w/ paypal works if i want to buy a knife here it would be greatly appreciated!
Ive only bought on ebay and over the phone before with new graham etc. ..never w/ an actual paypal account so i really dk how that process works

thanks!

Welcome to bladeforums

Here's a quick run down in order:

1. Find something you like
2. Speak with the seller
3. Agree on shipping, price, and payment type (paypal for now)
4. The Seller gives you his email address for his paypal
5. You go to your paypal account, go to "send money," then you'll see a field that has the email address entry. That's where you will put the sellers address. Then put how much is going to him and click "send" or "okay" whichever button is there.
6. An automatic email will go to him and you that you sent the funds. I find it best to send an email of your own saying that it was sent off.
7. Confirm payment made it through.
8. Wait like a kid on christmas eve :D

Hope that helps, J.

Oh yeah, make sure that you have a credit/debit card attached to your paypal account. If you don't you will be sending "E-Checks" which means it will take about a week to transfer through before it is deducted. That also means that you have to wait that much longer to receive your knife.

Just about every seller will wait to ship until an e-check clears unless they personally know you, but even at that it's still rare.

Since you are new to paypal, you may have a "zero" balance right now. If you add a credit/debit card you can just purchase things and have the balance deduct straight from your credit/debit account. That's the quickest and best way to go. That allows payment to clear instantly.

You might have to wait about 1-3 business days for that to happen though. When you set up a credit/debit card, paypal will "deposit" two small amounts to the credit/debit account. You will have to wait for these two amounts to show up and then use them to certify that you do indeed own the credit/debit account. That typically takes 2-3 days at the earliest.

Once that is setup you can buy things instantly and people will ship things out same day or usually within a day. A lot faster than sending money orders or taking the risk of using your card directly.

I hope that helps, J.

that really helps! thanks, I think I have a better understanding of this now.

Depending on where you're shopping some folks will try and make you pay their PP fees as well. Kind of like buying gas for $3/gallon, unless you charge it and then it $3.03. That violates PP's terms of use and can get their account pulled. And IMO, losing $1 on something I sold and not having to deal with money orders or checks is OK in my book.
