Question about Perrin knives

I was recently alloted $100 for a new knife and I want a custom. I belive that I am going to get a Perrin Street Cleaver or a Perrin Street Bowie with a cord wrap handle.
My question is about carry. How comfortable is carry. I've never had a neck knife. Does anyone have one of these knives that could give me an opinion.

If a mod wants to move this to reviews go nuts.

I have only carried in a neck sheath occasionally...when working around the house. For outside carry, I prefer an IWB arrangement. Recently, however, I had the good sense to buy one of Bob Dozier's New York Special's from A.G. Russell. This knife can be worn horizontally on the belt. I've been wearing mine in the cross-draw position and it's handy.

For me, what I wear and where I wear it has to depend on my attire.

The Cleaver is listed at 1.4 oz. You would hardly feel that weight. I don't know how heavy the Bowie is, but it's more than the Cleaver.

Whether you end up liking the feel of a neck knife is a personal preference. You might take a flat weight about 6 oz and hang it around your neck and see if it feels uncomfortable.

They are really flat, even for neckers, so they should be OK. They are both easy to rig for horizontal belt carry, too.

Hey Guys..

I have a Cleaver,, and it is a nice little knife..Sharp as heck..
However I didn't find the paracord wrap all that comfortable..
I'm not sure if it was a little to round,, or slippery,,however I replaced it with a tightly wrapped flat leather cord,, and it is much better..

I don't carry it often though..

Neat little knife..

ttyle

Eric....

If you want to know about this from real "Fred Perrin´s mad fans" try to post the question in the EKC and you will find a lot of information.

Mr. Perrin makes a nice knife, mind you they are users not showpieces. Also keep in mind he prefers Carbon Steel, so proper knife maintenance is a must. For the money you get a lot of knife. Additionally, Mr. Perrin is a pretty nice guy and interesting to talk to.
