Is advertising ok in this forum? I ask because sometimes i see things for seminars and training camps and always thought that this was advertising.

So if you mods don't mind, could you clarify that?

If someone asks for information on where to find training then providing a link is ok. If a thread is started just to inform everyone of training/seminar than I would consider it SPAM because it is hard to tell whether the thread starter is shilling for someone or is the actual person running the event and promoting it.

I'll just add that if someone who contributes to the forum just mentions that there will be a seminar at a place and time, without making it an ad, that could be considered legitimate. Someone who pastes in what amounts to a full-page magazine ad full of hype, or someone who never contributes to the discussion and only wants to use the forum to advertise his seminars, can be considered shark food.

Attitudes are changing around here and we're getting less tolerant because the forum has been abused so much. If you see something that looks like spam to you, please click the "report bad post" button.

Alright thanks for the answer.:)

I guess i get it. If the info. about a seminar is just about what it is and not from a magazine it is ok. Sounds good:thumbup:

Would it make sense to create a sticky named "Seminars and Workshops?"

If you're aware of one, hosting one, etc., you can post your date, time, fees, agenda, etc., there and there only.

Those of us who don't attend workshops can skip reading it.

Those of us who do can always see what's going on in what areas.

My only concern with my own suggestion is how to control useful conversations that stem off an individual seminar or workshop. Ideally, people would create a separate thread to follow--but generall we PracTacers can't do that in regular threads that go way off topic.
