This will be the first time I wrap with epoxy. I plan to do a two layered leather stripe wrap on an A2 handle.

How do you guys use epoxy? Do you start wrapping after the epoxy on the handle fully dried or you use epoxy on both the handle and the rope?

I think you'd want to brush the epoxy on after you've wrapped the handle. I've used a flux brush trimmed short to make it stiffer.

i dont do many wraped handles. i wrap the leather thong and then squrit super penatrating supe glue two coats and dont let it dry complenty beteew coats.

I use superglue myself. Don't know why people use epoxy. Doesn't look like it soaks in, just kinda floats on the top of the cord. You might try superglue first.

I made a mistake last night. I saw runningdog's wrap page and thought epoxy might generate some rubber-like surface after set. So I coated the handle first, then the first layer of leather wrap, then the seconde epoxy coat and the second layer of leather wrap, and then the third epoxy coat. Now the handle is black and as hard as zytle, and it's rather slippery when there's sweat in my hand...:grumpy: Does anyone know if there's any glue/spray which can generate a rubber-like surface?

Plastidip. Buy it from Home Depot. My first knife had a cord wrap handle with plastidip over it. Sitting on myd desk right now, as that got retired from truck knife to horriblly ugly remnant of history. ;)

If you want a rubbery texture on your handle you might try that truck bed coating. I've been thinking about doing this just don't know if it's worth the time. It might also work as a kydex sheath coating as well.

That's another one I'm gonna try sometime. WOrks great on gun stocks, least ones I've seen/felt(gonna do it to one of mine here sometime). And being as it's meant for truck beds, should have no problem bonding to metal of knife.

dont use plastic grip on the handle, I tried it on a old linolium blade handle, it got hot then weet and slippery and slimey. its is not what I would want to hold on to in a knife.
As far as truck bed coating, I think you can buy cans of it from JC Whitneys catalog for cars.
Good luck

You could try PEP BOYS or Orschelins. Pretty much anywhere there is automotive supplies being sold. I think even Wal-Mart might carry it.
