i have a few questions about the sere2000 folder. is the tip good for piercing? well it's a spear point so im assuming it has good penetration for hard use but i was wondering does it penetrate more delicate items like paper fairly well of is the point too thick? also a question about the grind, is it fairly thick or thin? im guessing it's similar to the kershaw boa in terms of thickness? i know this is a heavy duty folder meant for hard use but i was wondering how it does with daily utility tasks, like my commander is good for like hacking stuff but try to open a letter with it or cut paper and it doesn't do too well,

Yes the SERE 2000 is good at opening envelopes and piercing paper. I use it all the time to open my mail and packages. The top rear portion of the blade is very thick and squared off but the half near the tip is tapered. I think the knife is very well thought out. The blade is stout enough that I have used it for some light hacking yet pointy enough at the tip to cleanly pierce things.
