Question about slipjoint specifications

I'm having a bit of trouble in finding what I would consider basic information on various properties of certain slipjoints. I guess I have been spoiled by the wealth of information on these forums and at the websites of tactical knife manufacturers.

For example, I kind of like this knife: EYE Brand Stag Copperhead

The website states: 3 3/4" closed two blade. Solingen steel blades. Deer stag handle.

So what does 3 3/4" closed translate to for the length of the main blade?

What is Solingen steel?

This is just an example (a relevant one for me) - what do you do? Is there a secret decoder ring somewhere that helps figure these things out? :)

Thanks,

Matthew

solingen steel can mean two things. First the steel comes from solingen, well actually most steel from solingen originated in sweden, different story.

so, solingen steel at one time meant it was from solingen and it was carbon steel. Now it can also mean it is from solingen and be 420 hc. Which in most peoples opinion, inferior (mine included).

Then there are the cheap chinese knives that bear the name solingen, but are in fact made in a city named solingen in China, to copy that of the German cutlery city of solingen.

Eye brand knives are quality. Many of them are carbon steel, many of them are 420. The only way to know for sure by that description is by asking the seller.

The blade in question probably around 2 3/4-3 inches long.

Eye Brand makes good slipjoints. From what I have seen, most are carbon steel. The only model that is normally stainless is the mini-trapper, I don't think I have seen a stainless version of the copperhead. I could be wrong about this particular one, though. Best to ask the seller. If it is carbon steel, it is a good user.
