Hey everybody! Thank you all in advance for your answers! Quick question: are Sniper Bladeworks' knives classified as customs or midtechs? Not referring to their collaborations with Boker. Sorry if it's a dumb question! Just not as familiar with them.

No dumb questions. I would classify them as Mid-techs. I think of customs as one offs, or largely customer choice based knives. To me, mid-techs are when they have existing models for sale, and you sort of "buy what they make". Some companies have both. For example Hinderer has their "production" line, and they occasionally have some true customs come through. Another way to look at it is a true custom usually has one guy (the maker) that does it. Mid-techs are often assembled by a small crew of folks.

This is just my own working definition. Different folks will have different ideas.

I would also classify them as midtechs; my definition aligns pretty closely with Vegas Blade's. If you're picking from pre-defined models and don't have the option to request alterations or arbitrary design changes, it's not a true custom.

By Vegas definition how are Hinderers true customs then? I mean by your own definition all hinderers would be midtech knives.
