Hi all. I've got a couple of Seal team buddies that come visit once or twice a year. I always take them out spearfishing and put em on good fish. One of them has a ton of spydercos...a lot he bought, but many that were issued or given to him. He's offered to bring me some down, but I don't have a full list of what all he has. I'm sure that some of them are special editions. Is there anywhere that I can see which spydercos were military personnel only? Anything special I should ask him for?

Thanks

Lance

I'm not at all qualified to name off any special edition spyderco's or anything but I can supply a list of current NSN's assigned to spyderco products.

HTH, I know its not exactly what your asking nor are any of those knives special editions or anything.

What about the tan and orange ladybugs? Do they count, govt issue at least, probably more with cage # but I'm not sure.
The (2 versions) of sand natives also were/are issued to soldiers in the middle east via lottery.

The military model itself was designed by Sal in response to a request by a soldiers father, for a knife to serve soldiers in the field IIRC, so that would certainly fit the bill but can't say if it was/is ever issued officially.

I guess you'll have to either ask what he has, or take what you get.

AFAIK, the tan OIF/OEF/O?? C41 Natives are the only "military sales only" models Spyderco has ever sold, although they may have engraved batches of knives purchased by/for some military groups, just as they engrave knives purchased by/for other groups. Beyond that, I know at least one Spyderco distributor use to do a lot of after-market engraving for government agencies, so they may have done knives for one or more SEAL teams.
