Hey guys I have the spyderco benchstones. Purpose of this thread is the medium stone . It's a couple of years old and seen it's fair share of use . Anyhow the stone is dished pretty badly . Can it be lapped or is it done ? This is not really a issue with spyderco issue as I've got my money's worth out of it just curious if it's done or can it be fixed ?

I'm not willing to sacrifice a diamond plate to lap it either ..

Because of how it's made, no, lapping will not be helpful. Probably make it worse and kill a diamond plate in the process. Buy new and save the headache.

Spyderco ceramics get their surface texture from forming a firing. Only the UF is lapped.

I found an old diamond plate , the medium actually wears pretty fast,or faster than the UF when you put a diamond to it but still it's a pain . It got a little flatter but it's really smooth now . Still has a low spot running maybe a 3rd of the stone and to one side . If I decide to use the stone anymore I'll use the sides .

The other side is flatter but still dished , overall I'd say I got my money's worth out the stone . I can still use it just not the entire stone .

I believe I used a DMT XC on mine to provide a similar surface texture. It's close but still a good bit different from the factory surface. Flatness seems to be a long standing issue with Spyderco ceramics.
