Greetings, I believe this is the first time I've posted on this forum. I recently acquired an Experimantal 3 (precursor to the micarta Calypso Jr.). I did a search but didn't come up with much. First, how rare is this knife? Second, was a PE model produced? Third, If not would it be silly to try and trade this for a PE C52 micarta Calypso Jr.?
Thanks in advance, and thanks to Ted Voorde for his link to the "list of all Spyderco models" :) .

They are very nice knives and are not cheap. Chances of finding a plainedge trade for a spyderedge would be low, I think. Those come around from time to time, with the plainedge ones being more rare. There was a seller a few months back who took several days to part with a couple of serrated ones at $40 shipped! I was surprised they did not go faster for that low low price. My advice would be to try and keep a hold of it. They ain't making them no more...

Well, just to confuse things a bit more, the box my PE came in is marked "C52BMP Experimental Pln Micarta" and dated 10/97. Not sure if this is a "transitional" marking that would put it between the CX03 and the "full fledged" C52 Calypso Jr. or what. At any rate it is an "experimental" and a plain edge, but not a CX03, so can't say for sure if any exist with that combination of box markings.
