Question about Spyderco Pocket Clips

Alright guys, I've got a question for you...

My first Spyderco was a serrated Salt 1. After doing something supremely idiotic to the knife, I ruined it. Cursing my stupidity, I scrapped the knife for parts (e.g., lockbar, clip, etc.) and moved on. A few months later, I got another plain edge Salt 1. Today, going through my spare parts, I noticed something interesting- the pocket clip on my first Salt 1 looks a lot like a painted Delica 4 clip, whereas my new Salt 1 has a different clip that looks like what the stock photos of the Salt have:

Can I get any information about why my first Salt had a different clip? Are these made of different materials?

If I remember correctly, in the Salt series, the newer clips are Ti, whereas the older ones are steel.

Edit: I did not remember correctly.

Ok, so the one that looks like the D4 clip (rounded edges) is steel and the one on the Salt pictured (squared edges) is titanium?

Got a good deal on ebay on a mint Spyderco Native 2. The problem is that the seller could not provide the old style pocket cip and the single screw for the knife. Do you know where I could get my hands on one?

Call Spyderco and they will sell you one.

Edit: just saw the knife is a fairly old model. Not sure I have ever seen one with a single mounting screw. If you mean the large barrel then you should be OK. Regardless, if they have it they will sell it to you. If not and it is a strange older style, then your best bet is keeping your eyes open for an old user that you can strip parts from. That or have someone like STR make you a nice custom TI clip. However that might cost just as much as the knife did.

Thanks, Called and spoke to a lady at the factory outlet, she knew exactly what I was needing and has sent one to me for seven bucks shipped. Really good customer support at Spyderco!

"Thanks Agains".

I am having a hard time locating a place that sells the Salt 1 with the newer hour glass titanium pocket clip. Any suggestions?

Do you know how new the hourglass shape is? There is a good chance stores are using old pictures if it has been out a while. Regardless, any new knife you get should have a titanium clip if that is your concern. Not sure how the hour glass would change anything other than looks.

Normally if you email an online store they will verify a question or if you actually order the knife, put in the comments what you want or if they don't have it to cancel the order or contact you. Good luck.
