why would you need such a giant folder? what would you actually use it for? (and without scaring everyone away)?? I know it's a really cool and functional looking knife, but seriously, it is huge for a folder. At that size, why not get a fixed blade like an ESEE 4?

I dunno... I'm beginning to like the really wide blade...it gives a really nice cutting angle.
but I'm not about to drop $200 on it...

well the sr-2 (the mini version), 3" instead of 3.7" blade length seems pretty sweet... but also expensive. maybe it will get a bit less expensive.

What's need got to do with it? I want it.

what would you actually use it for?
to cut things

(and without scaring everyone away)??
I don't generally hang out with people who get scared by inanimate objects. such people are generally unstable and not to be trusted.

Because that would be like trying to carry an SR1 locked in the open position, which just wouldn't make sense.

If you have to ask why you need a knife, it's obviously not the knife for you.

It's like asking why people want to buy $1000 folders from Strider when a $20 folder from China can basically do the same thing.

The SR-1 isn't a giant folder. THIS is a giant folder:
