Question About Stone Wash Finish,...

Other then looking cool, curious if the stonewash finish has any beneficial purpose? Looking at an FKMD fixed blade in D2 with a stone wash finish and wondering if it adds any to protection against corrosion or anything?

It will slightly increase the likelihood of corrosion. The small scratches in the steel allow for more surface area to be exposed to oxygen and moisture resulting in lowered corrosion resistance. This can be seen in bead blasted knives more prevalently. The benefit of a stonewashed finish other than aesthetics is to hide scratches from wear.
