Question about stonewashed blades

I realize that many like stonewashed blades, as they supposedly don't easily scratch. Just wondering if that really is true.

Once I take a blade and convex it, most likely there will be an errant scratch or two, due to a slight snafu while sharpening. Will a stonewashed blade survive that, and not show the scratch?

You will still see the scratch.

Stone washed blades look good though...

Its just a finish applied by a abrasive, thus can also be altered by abrasives. The ability to resist scratches is a property of the steel and not the finish.

Better for what? not showing scratches? DLC coating comes to mind.....

Stone washed will most likely "hide" them the best because the background is broken up by a abstract pattern but they will still be their.

You would be able to polish out the scratches on a satin blade if you have the appropriate equipment. I use 4 6x9" piece scotchbrite cut into 6" circles. I put a hole through the center to fit the arbor on my Baldor buffer. A regular 6" bench grinder will work as well.
I use the maroon colored medium grit for the job. You can also polish it out by hand if you have a lot of patience. The scotchbrite will give a satin finish.
