Ok, so I'm considering tripping the coatings off of my beckers, but I've heard mixed reports about the warranty becoming void after users stripped the coating. Is this true? I have full confidence in my blades, I don't think that anything I do to them, particularly the BK2, is going to break them, but you never know. The warranty is a nice safety blanket. Just wondering because I don't have a ton of money to replace things if they do break without a warranty.

Stripping the coating off a Becker does not void the warranty, unless you strip it by tossing in it a bonfire to burn it off. :D

That's what I thought until I was reading a post about a broken bk2 and somebody said that a warranty became void because somebody stripped it. I read the warranty and it said that the warranty doesn't cover the coating when it comes of, duh, and it shouldn't make it void.

Hi Axl. It was probably my big mouth you heard talking about KaBar warranty and stripping.

KaBar is a very generous, fair company. More generous than most in my opinion. It is very rare for them to turn down a warranty because of stripping alone. But I have seen it.

KaBar can deny a warranty if any modifications have been done. They consider stripping the finish a modification and if they decide to, can deny warranty for it.

The point I was making is while they rarely do deny a warranty for stripping alone, they reserve the right to do so if they decide to.

The warranties I rely upon ate: KaBars excellent reputation and a man called Ethan Becker.

Now, with that said, I mat use the daylights out of my Beckers but do not set out on a mission of destructive abuse.

Lastly, if you strip a Becker, it's kind of a done deal as to any warranty on the coating!:foot:

As with any stripping you have to set your dignity aside and strip let the world see.

Haha...I was going to comment on daddy issues and stuff but tried to refrain.
