What's the best wax to use on the pole? lol No, j/k
I've been tossing around the idea of stripping my new Izula. I've never really been a big coating kind of guy and I usually try to buy my knives in a satin or stonewash finish when I can.
Mainly what I'm wondering is whether it can be undone. I certainly don't mean sending it in for warranty, but if I don't like it can I pay to have it recoated?
I mostly just don't like the finish of it as I cut stuff with it. Feels like it adds too much friction to me, but that's why I've always disliked coatings. However, I did notice that some parts of it are a lot smoother from wear, so I'm wondering if I should just let it go and if the finish of the coating will smooth out over time.
My main desire to keep the coating is because it's a carbon blade and it's kind of bothersome to me sometimes to keep them oiled, so I'm kind of wondering if the smoother finish of a stripped blade would really be worth the extra care I'd have to take. It gets pretty humid here and I've had carbon blades rust up after only a day or two in my knife-case when I forgot to put oil on them.
So yeah, anyway, if I try it and don't like it can I pay to have it recoated?
