with the correct information. He is right. I got my first loaded strop for handamerica.com. Good stuff. I then ordered 2 four oz. bottles of their green chromium oxide for the strop that I made for my larger knives. In that order they even included scrap pieces fo their corian base and extra leather.

Being cheap, I cruised the local Goodwills looking for nice thick leather belts. One belt, cut in two (I attached it to a wooden block then) made two nice strops for about $2, and it's worked well for me so far!

sven........that is what I used for a model. I took an old bed slat and cut it out to look like that.

If you use s002cjs advice and get the belt cheap, you'd be set with little money invested. .

Get the double sided strop. I have one in my workbag with the green compound on one side and HandAmerica compound on the other. Gives you 2 grits to work with.

Also check out ebay for old barber strops. Some are collectors items, but there are users there also with decent prices.
