I have a Sus Scrofa and I like it alot. What purpose was this knife made for?The Hawkbill Blade looks really cool and is good for cutting rope and vines and things like that, but I was just wondering what did Busse have in mind when they designed it.Thanks in advance for your input.

If I remember correctly, it was designed for cutting harnesses and seat belts for Chopper Crews.

Makes a great rescue knife.

I remember that being on the company store as well,

it was designed for emergency crews and chopper crews.

I always thought they looked cool

I remember when they were released a guy posted that he was using his to cut carpet. Any draw cutting is going to be easier with a SS.

In addition, it is probably the best value out there. Other than the scotch dispenser, no one seems to like them (unless you like them). I like them and I like them even better because I got two with sheaths for very reasonable INFI prices. I don't stab much and I have plenty of bushcraft style knives so this blade is a great size, thin, INFI, yum yum. I don't know nothing about helo rescue knives. That part just sounds like good marketing bs. Most of my military/leo friends don't usually pay 250+ for a knife that could easily get lost. I would and did, most guys, helo aircrewmen included, usually won't. Calling something military is all about the $$$$. Still, I love mine and they are quite the steal, pricewise.

I have one and like it, but when i got it i asked the same question. I haven't modified mine, but i have seen others that were modded to more of a wharncliffe stlye blade. It was my edc up until my cabs came.

I have used mine to cut carpeting. This will come as no surprise at all, but it worked great! :)

I had actually used mine to cut some carpet squares too.

As for the ss being "hyped" as a great seatbelt cutter...or harnes cutter.....it is actually a pretty damn good design for that (not that I have any chopper crew experience) but it will cut belts dang good. It also cuts heavy leather straps well, heavy rope, and climbing harness too!

I miss mine. I am always tempted to get another one and leave it stock, except for a light convex.

Sus Scrofa means Wild Boar.

Looks like a great emergency tool or carpet cutter. Bet it carves ham pretty nice too!

I use mine (plural) in the kitchen quite often, and think they're great knives.
Yes, it does carve ham pretty nice. And fish, chicken, plastic containers, cake etc
