Hi there,
first I want to introduce myself cause its my first post here. I'm 21 years old and live in germany. I have read a lot here on Bf and I think now it's time to post. My english is not the best but I hope you can read it. :D
I have a question about the ak47.
Does it have the normal busse guarantee? Meaning if i break or bent the sword while i use it (of course I know that a sword can't cut down a big tree or metalpipe) will it be replaced? There are many swordmakers out there but when you buy a sword from them you are afraid of using it because they say if you damage the sword its your fault because you hit the target false. I know that "playing" with a sword is dangerous but i think if I will buy the sword i want to have fun with it and cut some light targets thats because iam asking the question.

in short yes.

however -

busse's warrentee is for damage sustained in use, not for damage sustained on purpose via modification. essentially, with the sword especially (as it is with all other busse's) - if you do something, anything, to modifiy it and yoru modification ends up leading to a failure, it is no longer under warrentee.

modifications include grinding the sword thinner, reheatreating it, cutting notches in the spine, cutting third party serrations, removing the coating (and warping it as a result), things of that nature.

as long as the knife failed do to stresses on the original blade, as it left busse combat, it is under warrentee.

i bring up coating removal not because it will void busse's warrentee, but because he has stated that if you try to remove the coating on the ak47 you may end up warping it due to an uneven removal of materal.

this normally isnt a problem or something to worry about on most busse's, so it isnt normally something that would void the warrentee, and still might not be should you wish to do so on your ak47. but be forwarned that it may lead to damaging the blade as a result of the modification (wich will void the warrentee)

Welcome to the Busse forums!! :D

Go ahead and buy the AK-47, it is a Busse and comes with the best warranty I have ever see for a sword or knife. This will be one of the swords I will not be afraid to use.

Evilking, welcome to the forums.

I think you will like the AK.

Looking forward to reading your comments when you receive the AK47.

Mike

Congrats on an awsome first Busse!

It will not be your last! (I can say this know that I have three, right guys? :D )

I was going back and reading some of the info that SethMurdoc gave, and I was just hoping I could maybe get a little better understanding.

In regards to the coating removal, do you mean grinding off the coating material may cause warping, due to metal removal. Or removal of the coating material at all may allow the sword to be more prone to warping.

I would think that since the coating normally wears off, it is not there to help support the rigidness of the blade.

Thanks Darkjedi :D

It's a similar effect to shot peening/bead blasting a thin hardnened knife blade. This is known to cause (very severe at times) warpage due to the stresses being relieved on one side and not the other. The most common methods of refinishing involve either belt sanding, hand sanding, or bead blasting. This will have a similar effect and may cause the blade to warp. Chemically removing the coating won't cause warping, but refinishing the rough surface underneath might.

Let me second that thought. Bring it on.
