Hi everyone this is my first post on Hinderer forum. I have 3.5 and 3in blade mx18s and they are awesome knives and I love them both. This is not an issue or any flaws on my folders but I was wondering what happens with the contact of the blade and the stop pin after long term of sharpening the blade? When the knife is new, you have the flat area on the choil to contact stop pin when in closed position but over long term of use and sharpening the blade would remove the flat area? end up with sharpened edge contacting the stop pin? actually I dont really use them hard so I would not have to worry about that so much but I was just wondering if any of you thought about the same thing. If Im correct the newer model with the stop pin located in higher position is better? I guess. Will Hinderer knives swap the blade if that ever happens? ofcourse I know that I will have to pay for it if thats the case.

I know for me that it would be years and years down the road and at that point I'd probably retire the knife and hope Rick is still making knives so I could get a new one. ;)

thank you Rico801, sound llike its something that I didnt need to be worrying about. lol excuse me for my stupid question. I have no idea just how much it takes for a s30v blade to wear that much.

i don't believe s30v has ever been used for a Hinderer, as far as recent productions go. I think it would take quite some time to get that low especially since you said yourself it won't be for hard use. And there was a thread before asking about replacement blades, in which it wasn't something they offered unless it was a warranty issue. Have fun with it and don't worry :)

I wouldn't worry too much about it, Welcome! By the time that would ever be an issue I imagine we will be communicating via Holographic imaging and the car will be driving us around.
