Guys I'm thinking about making a knife in the style of Bill Moran's ST23. Since I've never held one or even seen many pictures of one, I am wondering how the pommel is attached to the tang/handle. All the pictures I can find are from the sideview and I can only assume that there is a screw in the end, perhaps having been ground and polished smooth. Maybe one of you can help me with this one. Thanks, Lin

Lin,
Find a copy of Sid Latham's "KNIFECRAFT"
Mr. Moran shows you how to make a make one from Damascus from beginning to end. (never could get used to calling him Bill, even though he tried.)

Thanks for all the replies. I will look for the book. This project may take a few weeks to get done including the research, but I'll try to post a picture when I have it ready.
The trick for me is to get the nut to look right or natural, since I havent seen the back end of this particular knife. Thats where the book will help. I like lots of pictures. :) Thanks, Lin
