So I am at this Gun Show today, and one of the big knife vendors has like 4 Right Handed Emerson Commanders for sale.

The guy lets me look at em, and I see if you are holding the Knife with the Sharp Part or Cutting Edge of the Blade Down in your hand.

On the opposite side of the Clip (NON CLIP SIDE) there appears to be a notch in the G-10 & Liner, that makes opening the blade easy with the Right THUMB.

So the question is are the Left Handed Commanders, a 180 Degree mirror, with not only the clip being on the opposite side, but the Notch in the G-10 & Liner also being an opposite?

Plus is the Lock Bar on the opposite, or reverse side of the Blade from the Normal Righty Emerson Commander.

If you got a Lefty Commander, and have photos please post em.

THANKS as I am a waiting for a EKI e-mail notification that Lefty Commander are available for sale.

BTW the dealer was asking $300.00 for all their Commanders, just a tad over EKI’s pricing.

The blade stays the same but the handles, liners, and lock are all for lefty's. Clip is mounted for left pocket carry, tip up and the cut out to disengage the lock is for the LEFT thumb.

You explanation is appreciated, as the Lefty Commander & CQC-7's are not illustrated with photos on the EKI Web-site. I am told the Lefty Commanders will be available on or around August of this year by whom ever replies to e-mail at EKI.

Again thanks,

I have a lefty commander and have really grown to love it. The action was a little sticky at first and it has really worked in nicely. I carry the lefty commander most days. The lock bar, liners and clip are all lefty. The only downside on this one is that I had to pay full retail, direct - and for this price on a production knife, I would like a centered blade. I will try to get a couple pics.

I think that the Emerson CQC7 Lefty has a chisel grind that is the same as right hand models. Anybody know on this?

I did not loosen the pivot. Just opened it a couple hundred times to get it moving really smooth.

You have to remove the pivot screw to open it, MtnMark, so the pivot was loosened as well. That is not a bad thing.

There is a trick to centering these blades and I know I have it somewhere I just have to get it. It's a small instruction.

Off the top of my head though:

Turn the pivot to where you would like it to be. Meaning the looseness or blade tightness is where you'd like it. Don,t worry about center or the blade touching the liner and what not. Open the blade.

Now loosen the the pivot 1 and a half times back from where it is. Now loosen the body screws to where they are loose but not falling out.

From the back tighten the body screws forward toward the blade making sure they in straight and freely while holding the scales together firmly.

Hold the liner lock in and tighten your pivot 1 and a half turns back to where you like it.

Close the blade and center the blade slightly if need be.

I think that's it. Try it and let us know.

I think he meant opening the knife over and over again versus disassembling it. You're right on it with the tips!
