Hey I just got my very first Sabenza today! :) it's a small 21. I wanted to see what all the hype was about. So I'm going to start carrying it tomorrow and see how it does. Anyway I usually carry my knife's in the pocket without the clip. Does it affect the functionality of the lock at all if I remove the clip from my Sabenza since its positioned on the lockbar?

I wouldn't be concerned, particularly as CRK makes a titanium clip insert that covers the indentation left behind when you remove the clip. (For what it's worth, I also carry my Small Sebenzas deep-pocket without clips. :) )

I also carry it without the clip. I purchased the insert and installed it. It really is not necessary. After putting it on, I am not sure I would buy another insert for any future ones I may buy.

Ok so the clip isn't acting like a over extension stop or anything like that.

And again, Chris wouldn't make a part to replace the clip if he was concerned about the clip being removed.

Oh and they weren't lying about being very sharp out of the box. The first thing my Sabenza got to cut was me! I wonder if this is a sign or something.. ;)

I'm about to purchase a large Sebenza25 or Umnumzaan and I too will be removing the clip. I was planning on buying the insert to fill the divot. But just out of curiosity , why would you guys not buy the insert ?

I'd like to carry a CRK without the clip, but I'm too anal. The inserts do not fully cover or fit perfectly to cover the entire space. If I recall, there's just a tiny little gap on both sides. I'm sure someone has a pic.

It might actually look better with just the screw in and no filler.

The insert acts as a spacer too. I didn't try just the screw on my small seb, but it looked like the end of it would come close to the blade without the insert in place.

Oh, And Congrats on the new knife!

Serves no purpose and does not add anything to the look or function.

Same here. The screw just does miss blade when installed by itself.......too close.

I have most always carried either large or small with out a clip. I grew up carring a pocket knife and just not out of the habit. The screw could be shortened but, my hard use Zaan has never had a filler or screw in the hole. I guess over time the threads could get messed up but probably not. Just my .02.

I have a small but my clip got caught on something so is bent out and useless. I removed it and do not have an insert. I do want to get the clip fixed and put back on though. In dress pants it is fine without a clip but some of my shorts I am worried about the knife falling out.

No, it does not effect the lockup going clipless. CRK even makes the clip insert for those wanting to go clipless. I personally like the clip, but I do have some sebenzas that I bought from others that were clipless and have the clip insert installed.

Like others here I carry mine without the clip and it does not affect the lock up of the blade.
