I just bought my first SOG and obviously it was a seal pup, sooo about the sheath the knife doesnt lock into the sheath is that a problem or not.

is it the kydex sheath? usually with the kydex sheath they get so stuck it takes ages to get the knife out. throw that kydex chit in the bin and get yourself a nice custom sheath . not all kydex sheaths are chit , just sogs

If it is the kydex sheath then yes, it is supposed to lock into the sheath. You might want to contact SOG to see if they can help you get a sheath that works properly.

Yes, the SEAL Pup should lock into the Kydex sheath. It should make a definite snapping sound once you get the knife fully seated in to the sheath. On another not we have finally received the new tactical Nylon sheaths for the SEAL Pup and SEAL Pup Elite. These sheaths are great. I will be posting some images to the website, hopefully today and will add the link to the forums.

so i shouldnt have to try to force the knife in, it should just snap in, also do you guys know anyone who makes a good custom sheath for the seal pup? thanks for the info.

Try checking out Eric at On/Scene Tactical... I don't own any of his custom sheaths but I have heard nothing but positive comments about them. Also, according to his web-site (http://www.mnsi.net/~nbtnoel/) he has a sheath for the seal-pup. :)

i figured out the problem i was pushing it in wrong, i had to push back and down i was doing it down and forward, all good i still might want to get one of those custom sheaths though.

on another note on the cover of i think its the april issue of tactical knives there are two folders with the best looking lanyards i've ever seen and i thought they were shoelaces but i cant find any flat shoe laces that fit through the seal put lanyard hole. do you guys know what material that is and where to get it?

what does IWB/OWB stand for, and i went to your site you got some nice sheaths, might have to get one.

The stock kydex sheath that comes with the SEAL Pup is pretty good for belt use and I did not have a problem with mine.

However, if you using it as a dive knife then by all means I would get another sheath. One hard shake and it would fall out (if you did not attach the strap). This does not matter when on terra ferma but when diving your options are limited if your knife is falling intyo the abyss. I have gone SCUBA diving a few times (not with a knife) and I am not sure if swimming will dislodge the SEAL pup from the sheath. But if I do know that I would rather have my knife on me than on the ocean floor incase something happened to me and I needed a prying/ cutting tool.

Eric/ Normark makes a great sheath for a fair price. I have five of them!

ha ha , the kydex sheath on my seal pup requires a VERY hard yank to pull the knife out, making it useless for quick draw

is the sheath that comes with the knife good to wear horizontally on your belt? like it is still quick and reliable?

Guys..

gimcfadden...

No I don't think that the sheath will do horizontal carry...
Besides,, the sheath would be a little long to do that properly...
