For all that own the Skinner, have you used it much, and what kind of tasks is it good at other than skinning an animal? I bought a Shadow IV a couple months ago, but I still really want a Skinner before I can't find them. However, being a college student, funds for toys are limited, so I need some convincing.:)

The Ubejane is a nice knife, I have never used it to dress a kill my self but I have treated several different vegetables types rather badly with it.
It also makes short work of those chicken breasts and steaks. :p:thumbup:

Our friend here PiterM has a skinner turned into the "scout" model, that is a very nice looking knife. :thumbup:

Definately Get The Skinner. I bought one pre-owned this summer. I carried it everyday during my 2 week hunting season and it performed awsome. I sharpened it up to a hair popping edge on my sharpmaker with ease. I gutted my 2 does with it, and I skinned both of them plus helped my dad skin his his doe as well. I also chopped a couple saplings down around my hunting spot. After all this, I could still get it to shave a hair or two. After my experience with it, I have to rank it right behind my all time one-piece knife favorites, the shadow line. Out of all the one-piece knives, I would have to say its one of the best all around and most functional of them all. This one is going to get carried Every Year !!!
GET ONE !!! :thumbup::thumbup:

Drewling Yet ???

Hey! Hey! Enough! Seriously though, it's good to hear what's been said so far. The only thing is that I'm pretty certain I'll have to sell a couple other knives to pay for it. The Skinner won't break the bank, but I'm trying to be better at saving some cash. Especially nowadays, I'd hate to run short on money.

Buy it now. Once they're gone, they are only going to increase in price. To justify it even more, the handle is a great place to store cash so you don't run short on money. :D :thumbup:

Oh! The temptation! I should have bought one I saw on another forum a while back that was only $200 - $250!

I really would need to sell some other knife or knives because I just dropped close to $300 on a Ruger 10/22. Sigh... why are these addictions, I mean hobbies so expensive?!

I bought mine on ebay for $210 ( pre-owned but in excellent condition ). I have seen several on there off and on for $250. I saw an internet dealer have them new for $267. So if you look around, you should be able to save at least $50. You gotta get one !!!

What kind of 10/22 did you get ? I thought they were in the $150 range, though its been awhile since I got mine.

Must have been a while since you bought yours! I got the standard carbine which retails for $279. I think they've raised their prices $30-$40 over the last year or two. Also, I live in California where there is an additional $25 state something or other fee on top of the $10 ffl fee and tax. The actual price of the one I got before all that junk was $229.

WOW, They did go up. When I got mine you could get the carbine model anywhere for $139.00. Though I guess that was more than a few years ago. Boy am I getting old. I guess someday when we see plain sebenzas for $500, we will be able to say we saw them for $385.

Yup. Up in price, but still came highly recommended. I'm still on the fence for the Skinner though!

The 10/22 is great, welcome to the Ruger Family. My latest Ruger is the 77/22. Its a beautiful little bolt action. Mine is the stainless/synthetic stock version. At 40 yards shooting cheap winchester wildcats, I put the whole 10 round clip into one 1/4 inch ragged hole off the bench.

Back to the skinner, you will surely love it. They will be around for quite awhile yet I think. They made enough of them. I dont see the prices going up for several years.
