Hi,
A couple of weeks ago I bought my first fixed blades: a Seal Pup and a SOGTech. I must say I don't regret buying them. These are realy great knives. But I have some questions/complaints about the SOGTech.
Everywhere I look for information on the SOGTech, it says that it comes with a nylon sheath. But the sheath I got is definitly not nylon. At first sight it looks like leather and it smells like leather, but don't think it is real leather. To me it looks like a cheap, "fake-leather" sheath. Correct me if I'm wrong. It's just not what I expected to come with such a fine knife.
The next question is about the blade. I have used the SOGTech for chopping some wood and afterwards I noticed that a small section of the edge (about 5mm) had gone blunt. Maybe this is normal (I'm a newbie to knives) but i think there's something strange about this.
The affected section of the blade (near the tip) is not the section I was using (center of the blade) when doing the chopping. Maybe I accidently used the tip a few times, but the rest of the blade is still as sharp as it was before.
So I wonder if this is normal or if there is a litle defect in the steel?
It's not a real concern to me, but I just didn't expect it needed resharpening that fast.
Greetings,
Timba.
