How does it feel for those with small hands? I'm thinking of buying one for my sister, and she's only 5'1". I have a feeling that with a closed length of nearly 4.5" that it might be too big for her. I'm also considering the Persistence. How does the Persistence compare in size to the Tenacious?

Thanks for the help.

I can only say that I have slightly larger than average hands and the Tenacious has plenty of handle for me. I haven't handled the Persistence.

I have large hands so I can't comment, but my sister is the same size as yours and she loves her Persistence. As I recall, the Persistence is 4-1/8" closed with a 2-3/4" blade, while the Tenacious is 4-1/2" long closed with a 3-3/8" blade. Not much difference in the handle, but the blade is noticeably longer in the Tenacious.

Here's a comparison from member Boozoo Chavis. Persistence on top...

I have medium sized hands and the handle on the tenacious has plenty of extra real estate. Personally, I like the extra space for a knife of this size. The size difference between the Persistence and the Tenacious isn't that big and you can't go wrong with either. Great all around knife!

Thanks for posting the picture of the Tenacious and Persistence side by side. It really helps. It doesn't look like the Tenacious' hadle is much bigger than the Persistence's. The blade OTOH looks much nicer on the Tenacious. It looks like I'll be going with my original instinct after all.

The Tenacious is a big knife. Aside from the ergonomic issue of small hands think about whether she would want a big knife. I have both and I would definately recommend the Persistence for anyone just because it's a great knife. Unless she needs the bigger blade, I think a Persistence will be would be just right for clipped pocket carry or inside the purse.

I don't know if you are dead set on picking between these two..but IMHO you should look into possibly getting her a Dragonfly. Nice small worker of a knife. With good steel...if she is going to moderately use it for tasks like opening packages, mail, and such....she wouldn't need to sharpen it for some time.

Here is a comparision shot of the Tenacious and the Dragonfly...
sorry for the smudges on the blade:o but hey what can I say I use it!

The size difference in the handle between the Persistence and Tenacious is very small. Both may end up on the big side for your sister.

My wife is about her size and loves her pink Delica, the handle of that fits smaller hands a lot better I think.
