. My questio is, is the liner supposed to goto all the way to the right? It hits the liner on the other side, and from what the guy that showed it to me said, all of them that he has sold or had in stock were the same way. Other posts in this forum has led me to believe that this is normal, but is it intended? I'd feel stupid if I were to find out that when I told the guy "That ain't right", that I was wrong.

I told him about this forum, but he wasn't net ready, so I offered to check for him..

Yek,

Sal will have the definitive answer. But, did you noticed the discernable angle/bent part way on the liner lock towards the right. Makes me think it was intentional. Other liner locks sort of flex along the whole length towards the right.

Hey... I have the knife and like it alot. Does that make me a "girly man" or a "sensitive man...?"

Howard Viele is a Custom Knifemakers Knifemaker. In shows that he exhibits, his pieces ae sold either to; other custom makers, waiting customers, or purveyors within the first 30 mminutes a show is open. His designs are probably among the most beautiful of all custom knives.

Sing - Anyone so insensitive (male or female)as to not appreciate a Spyderco Viele for design and quality should be lookin' at the Pakistani knives. (in my opinion)

Yek - Regarding the linerlock location; without the eccentric "D" nut (which we are currently only using in the Golden Facility), a wider range of lock/tang location is acceptable. Most custom knives are made like the Viele and the lock/tang location will vary. It is not a problem (assuming it doesn't defeat) unless vertical play develops. This hasn't been a problem but should this occur, send it back to us. We fix.

Sal,
Just curious, but which knives are currently being produced with the eccentric D nuts?
I know the military's have it and sounds like the Viele's. Any others?
thanks

RT - at this time the only Spyderco knives produced with the Eccentric "D" picot pin are; The Military (C36), The Centofante Jr. (C25), The Centofante (C50), and the Bob Terzuola Starmate (C55).

Sing,

Among my friends, I am generally considered the antithesis of the suit wearing crowd. It is a nice looking knife, but it would belong more in my girlfriend's or Mom's pocket than mine. The Viele's aestetic values would be lost on a utilitarian such as I, and the overall design seems to lend itself to a more "upper-crust" duty, away from the grease of my truck, and the powder residue of my guns. For me to carry a Viele would be tanamount to tacking a Van Gogh on my wall. Since the women in my life avoid getting greasy and using their knives for such things as winch anchors, the Viele would be better suited for their purposes than mine. This is what I ment when I said that it would make a nice lady's knife.

My comments bear no ill will towards your masculinity, if anything, they just give evidence that you are a better dresser than I am.

Sal,

Thank you for the info, I will let the guy know that his knife needs to be fixed.

I appreciate your posts. You appear to have more knives (I'm jealous) and certainly have more experience with them (and with the dremel) then I do.

And, if you and Jim M. ever get to convince a manufacturer to produce a big honkin megafolder. I'll probably be right there behind you (after positive reviews, of of course...

) in getting one, never mind I can't carry the dang thing legally around here. Heck, I'll take it up to the big woods in Maine where I can carry it, and where I don't have to and usually don't change my clothes for a week (undies exempted).
