Question about unfinished Gerber Mk II

Hi Folks, I'm new to the Forum and I have a question about a Gerber Mk II I just bought off of eBay. The serial number indicates that it was made in 1971. At first I thought it was a beater judging from the description and I planned on "customizing" it a bit. When the knife arrived the other day I had to rethink my plans. This knife appears to never have been finished at the factory. The blade has not been sharpened or received a final finish. It looks like a wide wasp blade at a 5 degree cant. But I thought they only made a narrow wasp un-canted version in 1971. Also the handle has never had any sort of finish put on and the lanyard hole has not been drilled. If anyone has any information that might help me figure out what I got it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Don't know if there was one produced, but sounds like you have obtained a training drone.

Hope somone else jumps on here that can clarify it.
