Question about Vanadis 4E Steel

Hi, folks!

I need your help/suggestions :

So, I own a quite rare knife with Vanadis 4E steel blade. I really like that knife, but I never used it. I just handling it and admiring it.
The thing is, there are some brownish-orangish stains that appears on the handle part (It is a full tang knife, and the handle are consist of micarta scales and Vanadis 4E steel), because I am handling it a lot without using any gloves (I do not like using gloves when handling/playing with my knives).

I think those stains are rust (Oxidized spots)? If it is a rust, will it make those spots/stains become "cracked" or "brittle" or "damaged" overtime?

My question is, how to get rid of those stains without removing the original polished stonewashed finishing on it? And how to prevent such stains appeared again? I used a WD40, but those stains are still there. I plan to use Flitz, but I am afraid that it will remove the finishing on it or make the finishing becomes fades away/lighter.

I am not a type of guy who owns a knife and put it inside the box and never fondling/handling it. So, I will not put some oil on it , & then I keep it inside the box, and never touch it again. What is the fun in that, right? Hahaha...

Anyway, really appreciate it if you guys can give me some suggestions on my above questions.

Thank you so much.

Owen.

Pics would help, try using a magic eraser. It won’t affect the finish on the knife, only the areas that are stained. It’s probably more patina than rust. It will not affect the blade.

I will post the pictures of these stains, tomorrow morning, as it is already almost 4PM here and it is super cloudy.
Pardon me for these stupid questions (I just want to make sure) :
Patina will not affect/ruin/damage the blade?
Does Flitz remove the blade's finishing? I have 1 in my box and I only ever used it on 1 of my satin finished knife before.

Flitz will not ruin the finish on a satin or stonewash knife. It may be different though if you have an insane mirror polish. Somebody else would have to chime in with their experience on that.

Mine is not insane mirror finished. But, I think it just mild polished stone washed finished. Thank you,man

I just found out that the finishing on the blade is actually tumbled and then stonewashed.
I tried the magic eraser just now, and the patina (Rust?) spots are become faded a little.
I might want to use Flitz because I heard that it works on patina/rust. So, flitz will 100% not removing the finishing on the blade? It will not be faded?

A paste wax like rennisance wax application will not only seal against moisture and oxygen but it will micropolish off a lot of light corrosion and gunk in general. I use it so I don't have to worry about fingerprints etching into the steel which can happen on steels like your Vandis V4E /4V. I use it on some wood scales as well as some man made products like micarta between regular maintenance. Naturally ifyou are taking your knife out in the woods or other uses that need better corrosion protection then usually oils or liquid silicone work better but for home storage for me I prefer wax. It isn't messy and just plain presents better after a good wax just like a car.
