Question about Velcro

I've had my RC-3 sheath for a little over a year now and the velcro on the retention strap is just about shot. My question is can velcro somehow be "rejuvinated" or should I just buy a new sheath? I guess I could buy a new strip and sew it it but I've never really had good sewing skills. Has anyone else worn out there velcro?

Once the soft side of velcro dies, its pretty shot. Sometimes, if you run it over a flame LIGHTLY, VERY LIGHTLY, and melt away some of the fine, loose fibers it'll give you a bit more cling but not alot.

Buy some new velcro at a Home Depot/automotive shop, and then take it to a luggage/ boot repair shop and have them replace it. They'll have the heavy duty sewing machine to do it. Sometimes a local shoe repair guy will offer these type of services and have the prices listed, but sometimes not. Good luck.
