Question about XM-18 non-flippers

I really like Hinderer's XM-18 series, but am lukewarm about flippers generally. I have read is several places complaints about the thumb studs on flipper XM-18s being nearly worthless for opening the knife. Are the studs/detents somehow different on non-flipper models? Let me know, thanks!

The 3 nonflippers I have had all operated perfectly. The detent was tuned just right and the thumbstuds were very easy to use. It seems some of the flipper models do have stronger detents, but I think the nonflippers are tuned so that the thumbstuds are easy to use. Snag one if you can!

Photo, since everything is better with a picture!

The non-flippers work great. In the earlier years I had no problem opening flippers with the thumb studs, but they have increased the detent on the flippers so that is likely the problem some are having with opening flippers now. Either that or weak thumbs:)
I only buy non-flippers these days so my knowledge of new flippers is limited

The Hinderer non flippers are tuned differently for easier use with the thumbstuds. Funny thing about using the thumbstuds on flippers is we can have customers who have no problems using them and then a customer right beside them that can not get them to work at all. Just depends on the technique and thumb strength of the user.

I've got a 3.5" XM-18 slicer grind, non-flipper. No complaints at all.

I wonder if the customers having difficulty are pressing on the lock bar. I’ve done that before.
