Question About Zero Tolerance 0200 Folder Blade Finish

Hey, am I on crack or what? I'm interested in the ZT 0200ST but when I look it up online, sometimes I see two different blade finishes or something. Sometimes the knife has a rough dirty bare metal look and other times on other sites it has a smooth, refined, coated look. I like it rough and dirty (he he). AND the serrations look different. I'm afraid to order one for fear that I'll get the wrong smooth one. WHAT'S THE DEAL?

top pick is similar to what the ZT catalog has pictured

154cm stainless steel with tungsten DLC coating

as for the other picture... i dont think that is a "rough dirty bare metal look"
i think it is just a bad picture.

but i could be wrong. it has happened before.

i hope this helps. good luck

J.W.

Good thing you asked trowand. Would you mind sharing which knife stores are selling ZT knock-offs?

Also, to protect yourself, you may want to do some research on these forums about which stores are trustworthy.

Got my ZT0200 right here, finish is smoooooooth as glass!

These are just amazing quality knives!

You can get a ZT 0205 from Knifeworks.com that is the same as the DLC coated knife but with bead blasted finish if you want. I have the black 0200 and the Knifeworks special 0205. One of the best duty ready manual folders and values you can find in the production knife world. Period . . .

Holy cow! Are you serious?! Yeah, on that bottom picture the blade finish looks different, the thumbstud is different and if you look closely the places on the handle where the pocket clip goes looks more raised on the bottom knife. I swear I've seen that bottom picture at numerous sites. I'm not sure where I found it. I think I just did a yahoo search for 'Zero Tolerance 0200'.

The thumb stud and the smooth thumb ramp on the knock-off are different from a genuine ZT 0200ST. I wonder how many of these knock-offs are out there?

If you want to get a ZT 0200ST be sure to check your local knife laws! Unfortunately, after I already bought mine I learned that the blade was too long for me to carry legally. Now I'll be looking to sell mine. :(

I hate cheap knock offs, thanks for posting the different pic's. Can you tell us which dirtbag dealer is selling that garbage.

You guys have good eyes. I knew something was different, just didn't pay much attention to it. Also, I have never had the privilege to handle one. I hate guys who think it is cool to knockoff good knives.

I just found one e-tailer with pictures of the fake 0200 and the 0400 as well, who knows what else.
Thomas, is it OK to post the link or not?
Whoops, make that 2 links on the first page of a Google search. Not cool.

Ok, did a little checking, and it looks as though the "fake" image is in fact an early ZT picture that we created prior to the 0200 prototypes being produced. Now I'm not sure why some of these dealers haven't upgraded to the current image, but the ones pictured were done up with ZT photo magic. Sorry for the confusion.

To add, we have indeed seen 0200 knockoffs in the recent past.

I knew it had to be something like that because those pics are EVERYWHERE. Honestly like as many as 1/3 to 1/2 of the pics that I find on the net are that blade.
