Just one question about these ZT 0300 series folders.. No doubt they are awesome knives, but I find one thing that could be better... I owned a 0300 at one time but have since traded it away.. The pivot screw/nut seemed like a bit of an odd idea. Seems like I always had to be mindful of that nut becoming loose and constantly having to adjust it... Is this just being anal on my part or did I perhaps have a faulty knife or is there something to this.... Everyones thoughts will be appreciated....
Thanks in advance

sounds like it wasnt on there right to begin with. my 0200 uses the same hex-bolt and it was a pain to get off the first time i went to clean it. its still kinda hard to get off lol. in otherwords i dont have a problem with it wanting to be readjusted constantly.

hope that helps some

So in other words... there are no worries of the nut spinning off in my pocket

thats my take on it. sometimes the stuff they use *be it locktite or Teflon tape or whatever* doesnt take very well. Just nature of the beast.

So yeah, it shouldn't be coming off in your pocket at all. Like i said, the one you had before sounded like it wasn't right from the beginning.

just for the heck of it, I have read a TON of reviews on the 0300's and this is the first time i have even heard of the nut being loose. So if you are so inclined, i would go out and buy another one :D

Thanks for the info brother, I'm thinking of trading for an 0302, but the nut issue made me hesitate... I figured there had to be a better explaination considering the price of these knives....

no problem. I am here to answer questions lol. Hope you get the 0302 you want and that there are no issues for ya *i say that only cause it would be in a trade as you mentioned*. Dont forget, Kershaw will take care of ya either way :D :D

I own that (exact) knife and there isn't anything wrong with it you just didn't have it in the sweet spot. There is a spot (right in between finger tight and so tight that the knife won't) that the pivot nut will not move and the speed safe works at its optimum. If you are still worried about it on your new one, I would recommend using a small dab of a weaker formulation of a LocTite like product.

I did trade that one to you.. Now I remember... I realize that any 0300 01 or 02 that I get will have this same issue.. However I think it could be a real issue, I would rather have a knife that is pretty much worry free in that department.. IDK.. Maybe its just me..

hissatsu1, spiral is on the right track when it comes to adjusting the pivot. Tighten it down to where the SpeedSafe doesn't activate when you push the flipper in. Loosen the 3/8ths nut until the SpeedSafe takes over and fires the blade the rest of the way. Then back it off just a little more.

As for the nut coming loose, Loctite 222 Threadlock is what you want to use if you think it might back off on its own. You can get it at any automotive store. A quarter of a drop on the end of a toothpick is all you need. Put it on the inside threads of the pivot nut, then adjust the pivot as you want it.

There's no need to hurry, as this locktite takes 6 hours to set. You'll have plenty of time to set the pivot where you want it, and once you get it adjusted the way you want it, let the knife sit open overnight. It will have cured by the next morning.

This is one of the lowest strength loctite formulas you can get. It will not work loose on its own, yet will easily come apart with small hand tools.

Can the blade be pushed onto the backspacer on all the ZT 0300 series folders?

I've EDC'd my 0301 for a little over a month now and I have never had to tighten the pivot onve I got it perfect the first time. I have had to retouch the edge a few times though. I love this knife. Get one!

i have played with mine like a rechargeable dildo and pivot has never come loose. The paint has started to rub at some places but the pivot is still as rock solid as day 1, and I've had it for 9months +.
