I just received another really nice, limited edition "Harry Gant", Skoal Racing collectable. Like the "Ranger Edition" and wood versions of the National Park Service 5OT this knife comes in an attractive wooden box with photo-printed tile top. I like these displays! This time it's the Skoal Bandit #33 Oldsmobile Cutlass that Harry was driving back in 1991 as opposed to a buffalo on the plains. Note the large "Old Timer" brand logo on the car. Kinda cool... You could never drive a lightning fast Cutlass while savoring a dip of some fine Skoal tobaccy between your cheek and gum without your trusty Schrade knife. It's just so obvious. It also begs the question "How does The Skoal Bandit spit through his handkerchief mask?" but perhaps that mystery is better off unsolved.
This knife commemorates Harry's 1991 achievements which earned him his "Mr. September" nickname. For those who aren't aware, racing "Hall of Famer" Gant won four consecutive Winston Cup races and two Busch Series races all in September of 1991. A most impressive feat! Total domination...
Back to the knife...
It's a LB7 type with a normal satin finished blade that bears a gold filled etch. This one has nickel silver one piece bolsters and liners. The handles appear to be made of the same "WondaWood" as normal LB7s but these are a deep forest green (almost brown) colour that really appeals to me. There is a nickel silver "Skoal Bandit Racing" shield set into the mark side handle. It's in fantastic shape as is the display. This SFO was called the HG93LTD. It was for 500 pcs and shipped in July of 1993 as per Codger.
Here are the pics, enjoy!
